Across from our office in chinatown, there was this old Dim Sum place. It had the most amazing hand-painted sign outside. It’s being renovated into God knows what now, so we asked the man in charge if we could have the old signage. He was puzzled as to why but said sure, and took our phone number.
A few weeks later the foreman ends up being sick the day they tore the outer wall out, and our sign wound up buried at the bottom of a dumpster filled with debris, steel reserve, and pizza crust.
So, in the pissing rain, we quickly decided to get the damn things out. It took about a half hour, and the construction workers were laughing at us, but you know? Worth it.
